It has been a very long time since I’ve written a blog, and I really wanted to do this again, since I’ve missed it so much. I felt compelled to start with a completely new blog, to have that fresh start. Sometimes you need to start over, to be able to move on.
I’ve been keeping a memory jar since atleast 2013, and it’s one of my favorite things. If you don’t know this concept, you just find a jar of any kind, and throughout the year, whenever something good happens, you scribble it down and put it in the jar. It can be achievements, events, moods..anything really! On New Year’s Eve you open it up and read through all of the good things that happened that year! It’s such a lovely tradition, hence why I do it every single year! Here are a few things from the past year, that I thought was worth mentioning:
I picked up drawing again! I gave Inktober another go, because I wasn’t able to finish it last year. This year I díd finish Inktober, and I’m incredibly happy with that! I improved to much during this month, especially in the last week. And I had a friend who helped me through it when things were getting a little bit tough and I didn’t had any inspiration.
I became more serious about my eating habits, and stopped eating meat and fish. I wanted to switch to vegetarian meals only. I caved in a few times, but other than that I feel pretty proud for making the choice to change my eating habits.
We moved to a different city, further away from where we used to live, to a lovely house that we can call our home now. I’m very happy with this, it really feels like home. And we did everything ourselves, which makes me feel so proud of it!
And on a more personal level; I have grown in the past year. I’ve gotten more secure about myself, and figured out what I want to change about myself. I’m still working on a few things, but I have made some improvements, and I’m happy with that. And this was also the year of my 10 year anniversary with my love, and to celebrate it we also got engaged! We got engaged on the first day of Christmas, so our christmas got a bit more special.
Most people have new resolutions for the new year, and sometimes they make a very long list with things they want to do or change, but won’t succeed. And why start with the changes when a new year begins? If you want change, you should start right now!
I have some less prioritised goals, or side quests if you will, that I’m sure I will post about later. But here are my main goals for 2017:
● Become vegan
● Be more creative; using several kinds of media for drawings / more photography
● Seeing my friends more often; I miss them!
Do you have any resolutions for this year? If so, then please share!
